Hummus Place was another one of those results of a long bout of indecision and wandering around. Greenwich Village is a nice mess of cafes, restaurants, general food joints, and happy hour places. The fustercluck of options left us mighty confused and walking up and down Bleecker several times before finally settling on Hummus. Our main criteria was a good drink deal, so the carafe of sangria for $13 was a huge draw.
Turns out the food was a relatively good deal (unfortunately, we missed the lunch special which would have been an even better deal). Not to mention it was delicious. All the hummus sandwich offerings were tantalizing, and we ended up picking the cheapest one, which also happened to be the one that sounded most appealing. Among the essential ingredients were mango chutney and hard boiled egg. We split that and an order of falafel. Great little late afternoon snack, low in cost and low in guilt (didn’t feel guilty, anyway). And the sangria was the best I ever had.
